Traction:
Put 50% of resources into product & 50% into traction. Engage with cold customers to find out where your product’s defects lie (“holes in your bucket”). At first, much of this effort seems to be wasted (seep out of the holes), but as you plug the holes, your traction will increase and you’ll retain more of the water.
To do:
- Set a concrete traction goal (# of customers/$ brought in in X time)
- Review the list of channels, and brainstorm strategies for each of the 19 channels
- Run cheap traction tests
- Focus on what’s actually working well - direct all efforts to that channel
- Once you pick one and zero in on it, then switch from strategy to tactics
