Takeaways:

  • To win $1.5 Million, be ready to play for 5 straight days and make very few mistakes
  • Be conscientious of everyone’s stack size and how that might affect their mentality, decision-making, likely actions, and strategy
  • When I don’t have a made hand, or don’t know where I am in the hand, place the smallest bet I can to to achieve one or both of the following objectives:
    • Induce a fold
    • Probe for information
  • Add more moves to my repertoire, including:
    • the check-raise
    • the double- or (rare) triple-barrel bluff
    • the all-in (against a SMALLER stack)
  • Think a few moves ahead, e.g. “If I bet this now, and he calls, what am I willing to wager on the next hand? If I raise now, and get re-raised, am I willing to put more chips in? How will I respond?”
  • Profile people - both their general playing style, and their play style in shorter intervals based on the variables in play at a given time
  • Don’t get down to <3M (enough chips to post blinds/antes for 3 orbits around the table). Make a bold move before this point, or dwindle to the point where a big move still doesn’t get you out of trouble.
